Bird call

#24  (21 in / 53,5 cm)

A young angel, ready to fly away, is playfully whistling to her playmates, the birds. Practically airborne, nearly unbalanced, the sculpture rests on the tip of the figures left foot. The particularity of this piece is that it has two right hands.

Anecdote
Why two right hands?

Lost in a daydream in which I was truly inhabiting this figure, I was inspired to make this sculpture. When the time came to make the left hand, I hesitated; the fingers would simply not take shape. Frustrated, I nonetheless understood that I wanted to show what the angel herself could see as she concentrated on whistling with the bird. What can therefore be perceived is the angel’s vision; the spectator sees the hand and the bird through the eyes of the figure.
