A young man plays an F on an instrument that is, in fact, a plant.

Anecdote
Not far from my house lived an old woman who had a passion for plants. She cared for them very lovingly. One day, as she was leading me through her greenhouse, she told me that plants are sensitive to music, particularly the note F, and that once a week she sang this note to each of her plants.

She is the inspiration for this sculpture, where I imagined a world in which plants were used as musical instruments.

Treatment
Bronze (7in/18cm) on a granite base. The figure has a black patina and is wearing blue pants that have been treated with copper nitrate. The plant is various shades of green and has been treated with copper and ferric nitrate.

A series of ten and two artist’s proofs.
