A young man is holding a horn of plenty from which flows a generous wave. This ethereal figure is diving with confidence into the tumultuous waters. The glass plate represents a body of water that mirrors the splashing and movement of the waves.
Treatment
Bronze (14in/36cm). The patina on the body is worked with ferric nitrate, while the water has been treated with copper nitrate. The hair is bluish and the horn mirror polished. The blue-tinted glass complements the shape of the bronze.

On the artist’s proofs, the horn of plenty is plated with 24-carat gold, and the glass is different.
