The Messenger
#71 (19in/43cm)
An emissary, who has been assigned to forge new peace agreements, is secretly transporting the tome of hidden knowledge. Such a messenger is in danger, which is why his entire body is on alert: he is running on tiptoe, watching for the merest shiver, the slightest rumour. Suddenly, he stops, on the lookout. Instinctively, he places the manuscript behind him, protecting it with his bent left arm. On his middle finger, (the finger of knowledge) he is wearing an identifying ring. A snake, symbolizing the cosmic serpent, is entwined in his hair.
Anecdote
When I’m working on a certain movement, an imbalance, I close my eyes and feel it first, within myself. Four are easy and natural: forward, backward and the two sides (left and right); but imbalance on an angle is very hard to feel, and as such, to translate to clay.
