Judy Richards’s Favorite Cultural Object: The Sculpture “Let it go”
Judy Richards is my ideal woman model; she inspires me.
Knowing that she will be interviewed on Radio Canada during the show “Il restera toujours la culture”, in the “CV du spectateur” segment on October 11,
I had planned non-noisy work so as not to miss anything.
What a surprise it was to learn that the cultural object she will not part with is my sculpture “Lâcher Prise.”
Listening to the interview, I was moved to tears. Once the emotion passed, I must tell you how proud I was.
Sometimes, during the long solitary journey of creation, doubt sets in: without an answer to my existential question “to know whether I have a purpose in life.”
It’s as if the wonderful chance came to comfort me.
I invite you to listen to it.: https://ici.radio-canada.ca/ohdio/premiere/emissions/il-restera-toujours-culture/segments/rattrapage/1877025/cv-spectateur-judi-richards
“Let it Go” (7 in /17.5cm)
Have you ever observed a bean seed that is about to germinate?
First, it curls up, focusing on itself… then a stem emerges, stretching out, and suddenly a small, fragile leaf appears, unfurling.
This sculpture is designed on the same principle: the angel tightens around itself, hiding its heart. It stretches its arm with an open hand, relaxed and reaching upward, in the surrender and trust of newborns… for me, that’s what letting go means.
